SBI Final Report

Task Force Progress

In April of 2005, Mayor Kitty Piercy kicked off her Sustainable Business Initiative by gathering stakeholders to brainstorm a strategy for the initiative. On June 22nd, Mayor Kitty Piercy publicly announced appointments to the 16-member Task Force charged with gathering input from the public and the business sector in order to make recommendations to the City Council by early summer of 2006.

The Task Force met for the first time on June 28th to get acquainted with one another and the initiative, discuss a draft workplan and begin the goal setting process. Bob Doppelt, Resource Innovations director and SBI coordinator, gave a brief presentation on a systems thinking approach to sustainable business and job development.

The second Task Force meeting was held on Thursday, July 28, at the Eugene Public Library’s Bascom-Tykeson Room.
