Resource Innovations is engaged in efforts throughout the region to promote economic development that meets social and ecological objectives. Forest biomass generated as byproduct from restoration projects and fuels reduction work presents opportunities for the production of value added products and sustainable fuel sources.

Through applied research, education and outreach, Resource Innovations works to develop these opportunities. Currently we are working on the following projects:

Resource innovations, in partnership with several other organizations, is coordinating a workshop to educate participants about opportunities to use biomass to heat schools, hospitals and other large facilities. Community Guide to Biomass Heat

Resource Innovations is currently working on a guide for rural communities interested in using biomass to fuel boilers to heat schools, hospitals and other community facilities. The guide will include several case studies from the Pacific Northwest. Due out in June 2008.
